Start Off Right with Our Puppy Training
Did you get a new puppy? Don’t let your puppy start off with negative behaviors that are difficult to undo later. During a puppy’s first few months, proper care and training are critical! If you don’t establish yourself as the leader and create an orderly, structured environment in the beginning of your relationship, you could fall victim to a host of new puppy nightmares. Don’t let them become a reality for you. Give your dog the “boundaries” he or she needs by starting off right in our puppy training programs.
At The Folsom Dog Resort & Training Center, we offer special puppy training programs to address basic manners and potty training when needed. We can even come and meet with you in your home prior to bringing your new puppy home to prepare for the new bundle of joy the right way.
Why Choose Folsom Dog Resort for Training:
- We are the most award-winning pet care facility in the greater Sacramento area
- Our puppy training system is based on a “balanced approach”– using multiple methods, techniques, and approaches
- We’ve successfully trained thousands of dogs – all breeds, ages, and issues
This program is available through Daily Drop Off or with Overnight Lodging.
Stop Unwanted Puppy Behaviors
Pesky behaviors such as excessive barking and chewing can make any new puppy owner question his or her decision to get a young dog, but it doesn’t have to be that way for you. You can have a successful relationship with your puppy just like other puppy owners who’ve come to Folsom Dog Resort for puppy training. You don’t have to waste time trying to train a puppy on your own, only to find that it won’t work out properly for you. You can start off by establishing yourself as the “Alpha Dog” right away.
We will help you:
- stop urine marking
- prevent your puppy from chewing on everything in your home
- stop submissive urination
- discourage jumping
- stop eliminating indoors
- prevent biting and nipping
We recommend starting training as soon as possible, which is usually at around 16-17 weeks of age. If you select in-home private lessons, we can start working with you immediately after you bring your new puppy home.
What to Expect from Puppy Training
When you come to Folsom Dog Resort, you will get more out of our program than basic commands for your pup. We are here to help guide you through the process of bringing your pet home, understanding your puppy’s needs, and teaching him or her to do the things puppies need to do – as well as what you need your puppy to do – in order to create a healthy, happy relationship for pet’s entire lifetime. We over several dog training programs and options, and we can tailor a program for you.
What to expect from our puppy training programs:
- Get your puppy to tell you when he/she is ready to go outdoors
- Learn how to create a good environment for your new puppy
- Encourage socialization with dogs and people
- Teach your dog how to walk on leash
- Teach your dog sit and down
- Learn about health, nutrition, dog psychology and more
Every dog is different and progresses at different rates. The duration of your dog’s training can vary from one lesson, to a few days, to several weeks, depending on you and your puppy’s needs and goals. If you select one of our puppy training camps, you can expect to see an immediate change at the end of the camp when you come to pick up your dog. If you enroll in private puppy training lessons, you can expect to see a more gradual progression, and the progress will have a lot to do with your level of follow through and reinforcement after your lessons with our trainers. Additionally, we offer “tune up” training that we can provide when your dog stays with us for overnight dog boarding or dog day care visits.
Free Dog Training Evaluation
In order to design a personally tailored program for you, we offer a Free Evaluation at our facility where you can meet with one of our training specialists. Prior to your evaluation, we will send you a comprehensive questionnaire so we can learn about your specific needs. When you arrive at Folsom Dog Resort, we will greet you at the reception desk. One of our training specialists will give you a tour of our facility and introduce you to our staff. Following this introduction, you, your puppy, and our training specialist will meet in a private meeting room to review the questionnaire you completed, observe your puppy’s behavior, and go over questions to evaluate your unique needs and situation. You will learn about our services and options, and we will discuss how we can customize a training program for your puppy. If you decide to enroll in a program, our training specialist will provide availability and get you scheduled for your puppy training. We offer weekday and Saturday morning evaluation appointments.
Is your puppy alone for long periods of time soiling your home? Distract your puppy from having separation anxiety. Bring your puppy to Folsom for puppy boarding or daycare while he/she is getting house trained.
